BerdsCarvival = my artist name and project concept

BerdsCarnival is a conceptual platform that embodies a multitude of media. Light and Sound. Painting and sculpture. Performance and language. Video and live-streaming.

The platform is in constant evolution. Like an actual carnival, elements are constructed and recycled. Some pieces are envisioned into new work. Elements are made to stand on their own as individual works but also work as a piece of the overall vision. For instance, drawings may be plans or blueprints and paintings may be studies for conceptual games. I often make artworks that depict the elements of BerdsCarnival, similar to the way the Nabis painters made their quotidian experiences into intimate moments of relevance. I do so to give them purpose and because they make up my immediate world. I have recently started using live-stream as a means to explore territory new to me. This material is used as research into possible locations the carnival may travel to in the future. Currently, Brooklyn serves as a framework for the project. Furthermore, the carnival is site-specific to uncommon and obscure outdoor locations.
