The Circuit is dispatched from wherever I am between one place and the next — a watercolor from the road or a field note from a Brooklyn patrol.

BerdsCarnival has always lived in the in-between: the space between one attraction and the next, between the real and the symbolic, between here and elsewhere. The Circuit is that literal, continuous, repeating loop of connection. This subscription is that idea, mailed to you.

Every dispatch comes from one of two places I actually am:

  • Travel dispatches — watercolor, made in the moment while I'm somewhere on research travel. Slower, more contemplative.

  • Patrol dispatches — photo and field notes from a logged Brooklyn perimeter patrol, in the same spirit as the Patrol Logs archived on this site. Route, distance, duration.

Both are numbered in the same sequence and carry the same stamp and layout — so your set holds together as one series even as the material shifts place to place, medium to medium.

This isn't a monthly mailer on a calendar. It's tied to actual movement — roughly 4–6 dispatches a year, whenever a trip or a patrol happens. You're subscribing to a body of work as it's made, not a fixed schedule.

How it works

  • Sign up for the year (not auto-renewing month to month)

  • Receive a dispatch each time a trip or patrol happens — usually 4–6 per year

  • Each card is dated, numbered, and marked with its origin — travel or patrol

FAQ

Will every card be the same medium? No — that's the point. Watercolor for travel dispatches, photo/field-note based for patrol dispatches. A fixed numbering system, stamp, and card layout keep the series feeling like one thing even as the material changes.

What if I don't travel or patrol much in a given year? Subscribers get whatever's produced that year — this is an artist's log, not a guaranteed quota. If fewer than 4 dispatches happen, the subscription rolls into the following year automatically.

When does it start? Subscriptions run on a rolling 12-month clock from signup, not the calendar year.

Can I gift one? Yes — note it at checkout and I'll include a card addressed to the recipient with the first mailing.
